Manager of Talent and Culture
The Manager of Talent and Culture (MTC) is a vital member of the Talent and Culture department, responsible for supporting the foundation's talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organizational culture initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Talent and Culture, the MTC will assist in crafting and executing HR policies and programs that align with Paul M. Angell Family Foundation’s (PMAFF) mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
In a dynamic environment that prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity, the MTC will act as a trusted partner to various departments, ensuring that talent management strategies attract high-quality candidates and cultivate a motivated and diverse workforce. This role requires a proactive and solution-oriented approach, combining expertise in human resources with a deep understanding of organizational culture.
The MTC will support efforts to enhance the employee experience, from recruitment to retention, by implementing best practices in performance management, employee relations, and equity initiatives. By promoting PMAFF’s values, the MTC will contribute to fostering a workplace that encourages open communication, recognition of achievements, and continuous professional development.

This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position located in Chicago, IL.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
Support in the design and implementation of a comprehensive full-cycle recruitment strategy.
Support recruitment efforts for intern and full-time roles including job advertisement, candidate interviews, manager training, candidate evaluation, phone screenings, and offer letter preparation.
Represent PMAFF at job fairs and manage relationships with temporary staffing agencies and search consultants.
Staff Development
Support with the performance management system, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals.
Train supervisors and employees on performance monitoring and feedback techniques.
Assist employees in setting objectives that support PMAFF’s priorities.
Ensure timely submission of 90-day evaluations, quarterly check-ins, and annual performance reviews.
Employee Relations, Culture, and Equity
Coordinates staff recognition events, and meetings to promote a healthy, social workforce climate
Address employee relations issues and promote equity within the organization.
Oversee PMAFF Engagement Committee and participate on various internal and interdepartmental committees.
Human Resources Administration
Support post payroll processes and maintain the HR Information System (HRIS).
Maintain company organizational chart.
Manages projects and provides administrative support to achieve HR Department objectives as assigned. Tracks progress on key HR metrics.
Oversee the maintenance of paper and electronic personnel records.
Draft and distribute announcements regarding new hires, promotions, recognitions, and transitions within PMAFF.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
Minimum of five years of Human Resources experience (preference for candidates with experience in equity, recruitment, employee relations, and benefit administration).
Experience with Paylocity or similar web-based payroll systems preferred
Experience and background working in nonprofit or social sector
Preferred Qualifications
PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred

Strong employee relations experience; able to coach and educate staff effectively addressing performance issues and gaps.

Must have a high level of professionalism and integrity and the capacity to maintain the utmost level of confidentiality
While employed in this position, the employee may be required to perform other assignments not listed in this job description. The employee is an employee at will, meaning that either party may terminate the employment relationship at any time by written notice to the other. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The position is a salaried, exempt, full-time position with a salary range of $90,000 to $115,000 annually, depending on professional and lived experience.

403b retirement savings plan employer contributions match: After three months of employment, the Foundation will contribute up to 9% of the employee’s salary—5% will be an outright contribution, and the Foundation will match up to 4% of the employee’s contribution to the plan.
In addition to vacation, holidays, wellness, and sick days, the PMAFF offices are closed from December 26th through New Year’s Day annually and employees’ salaries are paid during this closure.
Twelve weeks of paid parental leave for a birth parent, non-birth parent, or adoption.
Currently, the position will function within a hybrid working environment with alternating remote and three on-site workdays and may have in-person obligations that grow over time within Chicagoland and beyond with possible travel outside Illinois for in-person meetings, conferences, etc.
Process Timeline
Resumes will be accepted on a rolling basis, with in-person interviews scheduled to begin by mid-January 2025. Due to process integrity, only formal interviews will be conducted—no informal meetings will be held. The expected hire date is between late January and early February 2025.
